Well this is an excellent looking SA! The bright blade on this one looks great! The dark acid etched "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and "Herder & Sohn Diogenes Solingen" maker mark beautifully contrast the bright blade! Fisher marks this one as rare 1/1000. This is the first one I've owned and we've handled thousands! There are several Herder maker marks as this gene pool turned out quite a few knife makers. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! The blade rates an Exc++. There are a few spotting dots, but that's it. The brown anodized scabbard body looks excellent as well! It remains completely dent free with most of the original factory lacquer remaining! It shows some spidering throughout. The solid nickel scabbard fittings and crossguards remain in great shape! They have matching patina and wear. The ball has two hits to its bottom yet retains its original round shape. All four screws remain intact. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked ?P" (Pommern). The scabbard / crossguard fit is excellent and closes with a snap! The brown hardwood grip looks great! One wee hit to the right of the eagle, but no cracks or splits! The grip / crossguard fits are near perfect! The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 100% of its enamel. A great SA by a desirable marker!
