Steinhauer & Luck Knights Cross
Well guys, I do get offered these from time to time but could not pass this one up! So many of these look brand new and were never worn but this one was really there!! Just enough wear so you know it was worn. Man if this could talk!! Wonderful example of the coveted RK by S&L of Ludenscheid. This is a textbook cross that is correctly marked with the "micro" 800 silver mark on both the frame and the ribbon loop. The paint is in good condition with just a bit of wear to the edges of the swas. This cross uses the ?A? type frame with iron based core. This cross is three piece constructed. For those of you checking this against references the correct mid-period S&L die flaws are present. This cross also exhibits the progressive die flaw that we see clearly shown on pg 143 of the excellent Maerz reference. The early stages of this flaw indicate a manufacturing date of approximately late 1943 to early 1944 which is comforting for those of you who worry about a post-war manufactured S&L RK. Included is a length of ribbon that was period sewn together and has a button closure device. This comes complete in an original case. The case has some scuffs to the high areas and honest wear. Yes, I could wax it and polish it up but it looks great. Comes complete with 8pg COA with complete write-up and color pictures from Dietrich Maerz done last week.
