Wow! When was the last time you ever saw a maker marked version of a gilded Fireman's dress axe? For most guys the answer would be never! This may be the holy grail of Fireman's dress pieces. The axe head is deeply etched with fire motifs, oak leaves and acorn themes. Truly a thing of beauty. The substantial head remains intact with a cap that is maker marked. The sides are adorned with two carry rings secured with two flat head screws. The lower end cap is decorated with three lines and also secured with a screw but this time a dome head. All the fittings are gilded with some honest wear and there's a bit of age toning. The wood on this is also in good shape being painted with a thick black enamel. There's also little wee hits and marks that one expects for an original example that was worn. There are a couple places where the paint is chipped and I have clearly shown these. Yes, about two minutes with a bottle of Testors paint would make these disappear but that, I leave to you. Included is a rare set of gilded hangers. Guys this may be the only chance you have to secure such an example.
