A rare and desirable SA with a screamin? blade!! Blade shows minor runner marks and the odd wee bit of age. Motto and maker mark are nice and crisp. Perfect point with no sharpening. Good crossgrain remains. Exc++/NM. The fittings are all hand chased solid nickel and well fit. The handle fits up to the guards perfectly. All the angles are correct. Lower crossguard is gau stamped "Wf?. Peek under the lower crossguard and you will see a benchmark ?4?. No, not required but always a treat to find. The grip is a beauty with a hard rub at the reverse upper thin area, there is actually some material missing but fortunately this is invisible from the front. If you can forgive that this is a chip and crack-free example. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the roundel has darkened but retain 100% of enamel. The scabbard fits the dagger nice and all the patina matches. The scabbard has great finish with some lacquer remaining. The lower fitting has lost of huts and the ball is hit in, The screws are all intact. The fittings themselves are nickel silver. It all fits perfectly. This large oval Eickhorn maker mark was only used for a very short time during initial production.
