Here a rare bird rating 9 out of 10 on McSarrs SA Rarity Rating! The blade on this one looks good. It has a beautifully executed "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and rarer Solingen maker mark! The tip looks good and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates Exc+. It has some age and grey spotting throughout. The brown anodized scabbard has surface oxidization spots throughout. It remains dent-free. The scabbard fittings look good. The bottom fitting is lightly worn with some verdigris on it and a few bumps to the bottom of the ball. The scabbard / crossguard fit is near perfect. The reverse of the lower crossguard reads ?He" (Hessen). The grip / crossguard fits are near perfect. The solid hardwood grip is in excellent condition. A few bumps/scrapes from period wear but no cracks or chips. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed with a rough fit. The SA roundel has some spotting, yet it retains 100% of its enamel and has a perfect fit. Overall a rare piece in need of a good home!
