Here's one, by C.R.Kirschbaum, out of a huge horde of swords returned from Germany by a US Officer after WWII. The unplated blade shows age and wear it rates a Exc. The very tip is blunted. This pattern is illustrated in Wagner's excellent reference Cut & Thrust Weapons pg 283. The black leather scabbard has some missing stitching yet is in good shape. The leather has 2 decorative scribed lines running down both sides. The brass drag and upper scabbard fittings are secured by staples. The hilt markings match the scabbard. The blade will not fully insert, (about 1/2" remains out) due to age shrinkage of the leather. I will not force it. The leather is dry but remains unbroken. The hilt is solid brass. The whole thing is heavy and well marked.
