US, WWI - Victory Medal 3 Clasps
United States, WWI - Victory Medal and Bar. Instituted in April/June 1919, the Victory Medal was awarded for service between April 6, 1917, and November 11, 1918. It is constructed out of a die struck bronze base. The round shaped obverse features the goddess of victory. The reverse features a centrally placed fasces on top of the US coat of arms underneath an arched “The Great War for Civilization” and flanked by the country names of the Allied and Associated Nations, above six stars. To the top is a tapered barrel loop and ring which holds a rainbow-colored ribbon. The ribbon has three clasps attached from top to bottom: “St. Mihiel”, “Meuse-Argonne” and “Defensive Sector” each flanked by two stars. To the reverse top is a well working brass bar and soldered-on catch, hinge and pin assembly. The award measures 36mm in diameter.
