Japan - Navy Leading Seaman Tunic and Breaches

Japan, WWII – Imperial Japanese Navy Leading Seaman (Aviation Corps) Tunic and Breaches. It is constructed out of a dark blue wool. It features five gilt brass chrysanthemum-and-anchor buttons to the front with stitched cuffs and no pockets. The collar has two stitched-on preparatory flying school collar tabs, which feature a yellow machine embroidered winged chrysanthemum on a black base. The right sleeve features the leading seaman insignia, consisting of: three yellow strips above a pinned on blue aviation chrysanthemum above a fouled anchor. The exterior shows areas of wool thinning. The fully lined interior is made out of a tri-cot black cotton cloth. There is one interior breast pocket. The spine has a white tag. The right arm has several holes to the lining. Shoulder to shoulder is 15 1/2 inches. Spine to collar is 21 inches. Sleeve is 21 1/2 inches long. Also included are the breaches. They are made of a dark blue wool. The interior features some white plain weave cotton lining and a black two-piece cloth belt. There is a tag to the back. All of the buttons remain, but three are cracked and missing pieces. It shows similar wool thinning along with one larger scrape and hole. It measures 36 1/2 inches long. The waist is 16 1/2 inches wide.
