Japan - IJA First Class Private M38 Tunic

Japan, WWII – Imperial Japanese Army First Class Private M38 Tunic. It is constructed out of a high-quality olive drab tri-cot wool. It features five gilt brass (top two) / steel (bottom three) buttons to the front with two breast pockets that have gilt steel buttons and scalloped flaps and two hip pockets with plan flaps. The collar features two red (Infantry) machine made two-star first class private collar tabs. Above the right collar is a stitched-on one year volunteer ornament. Above the left collar tab is a stitched-on “8” regimental number ornament. The exterior is in wonderful condition. The interior features a tri-cot white cotton. The interior left breast pocket is clearly marked. One wee hole to the interior. Typical sweat staining. Shoulder to shoulder is 16 1/2 inches. Spine to collar is 27 inches. Sleeve is 21 inches long.
