Kriegsmarine Koppelschloß by R.S & S. - Richard Sieper & Sohne of Lüdenscheid. Introduced in 1935. It is constructed of a die struck aluminum base that has been gold plated. The obverse roundel depicts a closed winged Kriegsmarine eagle griping a mobile swastika in its talons on a textured round background. The eagle is above a half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the center and is underneath the motto reading: “Gott Mit Uns” (God with us). The wreath and motto are both in front of a decorative lined type pattern background which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The reverse is clearly maker marked “R.S.&S.” and features an integral catch and aluminum pin/post sleeve assembly. Wrapped around the post is a stitched-on brown leather tab. Most of the stitching has come lose. The tab is marine marked and maker marked “Richard Sieper & Sohne Lüdenscheid 1938”. The buckle measures 2 7/16 inch wide by 1 15/16 inches tall. A highly desirable example. I have seen these listed and sell for $1,195!
