A Model 1937 - Reichsfinanzverwaltung Dolch für Landzoll-Beamte by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The blade on this one looks wonderful. The acid etched seated squirrel holding a broad sword “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is gorgeous easily visible from hilt to tip. The fit is perfect as is the tip. The blade rates an easy NM. There are some scratches but you need to hold it just right to see them, along with minor age spotting throughout. The light brown tanned leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard body is covered in a blue-green faux textured leatherette. It has a few scuffs yet retains 98% leather coverage. It has three scabbard fittings each finished in lined edges and each secured with a headless screw. The throat is integral to the upper fitting as we see on 95% of these. The scabbard to hilt fit is perfect. The hilt is made out of aluminum fitting which is textbook configuration. The crossguard features the upswept enhanced Customs eagle wings. The unique Customs ferrule and pommel with acanthus leaves match in tone, wear and patina. The leatherette covered grip is in wonderful shape and has the dual aluminum twisted wire wrapped. A wonderful example!
