Deutscher Reichsbund für Leibesübungen in Bronze Anstecknadel by Wernstein Jena of Pforzheim. Instituted July 1, 1937, the bronze grade DRL (German National Union for Physical Training) Sports Badge was awarded to men and women between the ages of 18-32 who passed five parts of national fitness test within a 12-month period. It is constructed out of a die struck bronze base that has been bronze washed and black burnished. The oval shaped obverse depicts a centrally placed “DRL” in stylized letters which is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath and is above a bannered swastika. The fullback reverse is maker marked “Wernstein Jena” and has a soldered-on and knurled stickpin. The face measures 9/16 of an inch wide by 11/16 of an inch tall.
