“Danziger” Schirmmütze Totenkopf - first pattern c.1923-1934. Introduced in 1923, the Stabswache adopted the first pattern “Danziger” and 1927 pattern national eagle for wear on their visor caps. The second pattern (with jaw) was introduced on October 6, 1934, and in use on February 1936. Both these pieces of insignia were worn through-out the war. It is constructed out of a die stamped nickel-silver base that has been silver washed with polished highlights and finished in a lacquer coating. The obverse features a jawless imperial Prussian Danziger style skull and crossbones. The hollow back reverse features two flatwire prongs. It measures 1 ¼ inches wide by 1 1/8 inches tall. Being sold individually, it is my choice which one you get. Came in a recent lot of new old stock.
