Transitional - Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Tiger of Solingen. Based on construction this piece can be dated to c.1939. The blade on this one looks excellent. The stamped “Tiger Solingen” maker mark and “RZM M7/68” RZM mark are all beautifully executed. It has a solid fit and perfect tip. The blade rates Exc++/NM. It shows some minor age grey and scratches throughout. The black leather buffer pad remains intact. The sheet metal based black enamel painted scabbard looks good. It appears to have been originally anodized, then painted, then stripped of its paint. Still, it looks good. It remains completely dent free. There is a wee 2mm split to the one side of the throat. The folded over black pig skin leather strap retains all of its rivets. The “Koh-I-Noor Patent” marked snap continues to work well. The hilt is constructed out of a zinc base that has been nickel-silver plated. The plating remains 98% intact, with wear in the expected areas. The two black checkered bakelite grip plates are in perfect condition and secured with two solid steel grip rivets. To the center obverse of the grip is a large HJ diamond which retains 99%+ enamel. One of the most requested makers. Textbook features and construction.
