Luftwaffe Sport Shirt Eagle
Luftwaffe Sportabzeiche. Introduced July 4, 1935, the sports shirt eagle was to be worn on the front center chest of the white sleeveless sports shirt. It is constructed out of a machine embroidered black and white tricot weave cotton thread to a white plain weave rayon base. The rectangular obverse depicts a black 2nd pattern Luftwaffe eagle with outstretched wings clutching a swastika on one of its talons on a downward pointing triangular white cotton base and a white rectangular rayon base. The top and bottom edges have reenforced chain link stitching. It is heavily soiled and there are lines running through it. It measures 11 inches wide by 5 7/8 inches tall.
