Japanese Hinomaru Flag
Japan, WWII - Nisshōki (日章旗). Constructed out of a white and red died tricot fabric. The rectangular shaped obverse features a centrally placed red circle (representing the sun) on a white base. The reverse is the same. The top and bottom have a reenforced plain weave. The fly and hoist ends have been folded over and stitched together. The hoist end corners have a stitched-on dual worn off blue string, underneath a stitched-on brown lacquered paper fabric triangle. It shows minor soilage spots, lose threads to the edges and clear sun fading. It measures 39 inches long by 29 inches tall. A nice example.
