Wehrmacht-Heer Schirmmütze Adler für Offiziere. Introduced February 17, 1934, national eagle for the army was officially introduced for wear on the visor cap. Come March 1935 the second pattern national eagle was introduced and until the end of the war. It is constructed out of hand embroidered rolled, twisted and crunched silver bullion thread and green cotton thread on a green wool backing. The obverse depicts a silver bullion army open winged eagle, clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons, above a green backing. The reverse shows a stitched-on green wool backing. Threads are missing. It measures 3 1/8 inches wide by 1 5/16 inches high. Beautiful craftsmanship!
