Navy Officer’s Breast Eagle by F. & S.

Kriegsmarine Brustadler für und Offiziere by F & S. Introduced March 24, 1934, worn by members of the Kriegsmarin on the right breast of the uniform. It is constructed out of twisted, rolled and straight hand embroidered gold bullion and yellow rayon thread to a navy-blue wool and lacquered paper backing. The obverse depicts a Kreigsmarine eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons, above a blue backing. The reverse shows thread and the original lacquered paper backing. It also displays holes to the exterior where it was uniform removed and in white: “19” (left) and “F&S” (right). It measures 3 3/4 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches tall. A unique maker marked piece.
