Personalized - Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by RZM M7/27 1938 - Puma - Puma-Werk Lauterjung & Sohn of Solingen. The thick ricassoed blade on this one has been sharpened. The stamped “RZM M7/27 1938” maker mark is nicely executed. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates Exc. It has been sharpened, shows age grey, spotting and scratches throughout. The black leather buffer pad is lost to time—which is a textbook feature with PUMA, as stated on page 351 of The Collector’s Guide to Hitler Youth Knives by Nathan Hogle. The sheet metal based black enamel painted scabbard is in good condition. It has a scratched in personalization to the back which reads: “H. Creiner”. It shows some oxidization spotting and spidering throughout. It remains dent free and holds 97% paint coverage. It has two runners. The hanger is black tanned leather. It is well worn. The top has ripped through and been glued back together. All of the rivets remain intact and the “S.H.B.” marked snap continues to work well. The iron-based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 85%+ of its plating with wear to the expected areas. The grip plates are black checkered bakelite. The reverse is cracked to several spots. Both nickel-silver rivets remain tightly secured. The large HJ diamond has a small repair and retains 80%+ of its enamel.
