Imperial - Fighting Knife with Stag Grip Plates by Eickhorn
Germany, WWI - Kampfmesser by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Previously sold by T. Johnson (List 92) in the fall of 2001: “468. Early Fighting Knife w/ Staghorn Grip Plates. Carl Eickhorn (back-to-back squirrels, C.E.) TM. Polished steel bayonet-style hilt with light surface wear, age to pommel and crossguard, squirrel logo lightly visible, single-edged blade showing minor sharpening and light sharpening marks as related by two steel, staghorn grip plates show minor wear with no cracks, in length overall excellent, showing light patina. Polished steel, single-edged blade features an unsharpened 3" top false leading edge and is completely smooth and mirror gray patina. Dent-free, tube steel scabbard retains approximately 98% of its original brown enamel and only minor surface wear, is complete with brown leather beltloop grip strap in excellent condition. Nice, early fighting knife with staghorn grip plates. Exc++/Exc+”
