Early SA Dagger by Gottfried Müller
A Model 1933 - Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Gottfried Müller of Herges-Vogtei. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Alles fur Deutschland” motto and unusual horse/half cog-wheel “Gottfried Müller Herges-Vogtei” maker mark are both very dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The also shows the Textbook speckling we see with Müller. The crossgrain is easily visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc++/NM. There is the typical scratches/runner marks and age staining/clouding throughout. The sheet metal based brown anodized scabbard is in excellent condition. It remains dent free and holds 25%+ of its original factory lacquer. Minor oxidization spotting throughout. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in wonderful shape. The ball has two wee bruises, yet retains a very nice round profile. All four screws remain intact. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “He” (Hessen). The brown hardwood grip looks wonderful. The odd bruise but no cracks, chips or flakes. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 98%+ of its enamel. A very nice piece.
