Model 1955 - Кортик общевойсковой образца года СССР by ЗИК 57. The double-edged blade on this one looks great. The etched maker marked: “ЗИК 57” with triangle and reverse dagger number “И0 4344” are both nicely executed. It has a great mirror like finish. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates NM. It shows surface scratches. The black leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard is wood based and covered in a black leather. It shows typical age use, yet retains 99% coverage and has a near perfect seam. The three gilded brass scalloped fittings look great, each being secured with one rivet to the reverse. The obverse of the top fitting features a central star with a hammer and sickle on it, above a half wreath that has laurel leaves and berries (left) and oak leaves and acorns (right), tied together at the bottom with a bowtie, and is below a background of diverging rays. The reverse of the top fitting features the main Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin. The scabbard sits tightly up against the hilt with a properly working lock button. The recurved crossguard, lower sleeve, button, top sleeve (with the state emblem of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) and top screw on pommel cap (with the five-pointed star) are all brass based and gilded. The yellow plastic barrel-shaped grip is dark specked and is in excellent condition. Overall, a fine example.
