United States, WWII – Bronze Star and Army Good Conduct Medal and Document Group to Infantry Staff Sergent Alfred W. Boucher of the 744th Light Tank Battalion. According to the Citation: “Staff Sergeant Alfred Boucher (Array Serial Number 11054767), Infantry, 744th Light Tank Battalion, United States Amy, is awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany, from 26 July 1944 to 31 December 1944, in connection with military operations against the enemy. Staff Sergent Boucher, after his assault gun platoon had sustained heavy losses which included the platoon sergeant, took over the platoon, performing an excellent job of knitting replacements in with more experienced men. Where static warfare prevailed and his organization performed defensive missions, Staff Sergeant Boucher performed outstanding work in the establishment of observation posts, often working under heavy enemy fire. The personal courage, leadership, and devotion to duty displayed by Staff Sergeant Boucher reflect great credit upon himself and the Military Service.
