A Model 1933 - Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Puma - Puma-Werk Lauterjung & Sohn of Solingen, RZM Contract Code “RZM 1052/38 SS” 1938. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “RZM 1052/38 SS” SS contract number are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit sits perfectly up against the hilt. The blade rates a solid NM. It shows minor age grey/spotting throughout along with the common surface scratches/runner marks. The steel based black painted enamel scabbard body on this one looks great. It appears to be professionally re-painted. It remains dent free. The steel-based nickel-silver plated scabbard fitting are worn. They show bubbling and plating loss throughout. The top fitting has a crack to the left upper-hand side and the lower fitting has one on the side next to the right screw. The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws remain intact. The zinc-alloy based nickel-silver plated crossguards look good matching the scabbard fittings quite nicely. The grip is black died hardwood which is in excellent condition. The solid nickel eagle is nicely detailed and has a good fit. The SS roundel retains 97%+ of its enamel and has a perfect fit. A solid piece with a beautiful blade.
