Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht Armband
“Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht” Ärmelbinde. Established September 25, 1944, these armbands were worn by members of the “National Militia” as a last-ditch effort regarding the outcome of the war. It is constructed out of a printed cotton base. The rectangular shaped obverse features, in white: “Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht”, with two white national eagles (with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika) one to either side. This all lies on a black backing that has a horizontal white and black stripes above and below it and has a surrounding red border. The reverse is stitched to size. The top and bottom edges have been folded over and stitched together with red thread. It measures 7 3/8 inches wide by 2 15/16 inches tall.
