Imperial - Gewehr 98 Ammo Pouch by Salamander 1915
German Empire, WWI - Gewehr 98 Ammo Pouch by Salamander 1915. It is constructed out of a multi-piece brown tanned pigskin leather that has been stitched together. It has three pockets, each with lid and flap. The interior features all three raw hide dividers. The center interior lid is marked: “BLA III” (perhaps III Royal Bavarian Corps), the right corner is torn. The left flap and lid are numbered “2625”. The rivets, prongs and d-ring are all brass based. The reverse is marked: “J. SIGLE & Cie 1915 Kornwestheim Salamander Schuhfabriken”. Typical age wear. It measures 9 inches wide by 4 ¼ inches tall by 2 ½ inches thick.
