A 2nd Pattern - 1. Stufe Nahkampfspange in Bronze by Josef Feix Söhne of Gablonz (6.5). Instituted November 25, 1942, the Bronze I Stage Close Combat Clasp was awarded for 15 close combat battles. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc-alloy base that has been bronze washed and brennlack finished. The obverse depicts a crossed model 24 grenade and K98 bayonet with oak leaves, acorns and lined rays all beneath a German national eagle. The reverse of the badge correctly displays; a crimped flatwire catch, crimped sheet metal hinge and fluted style pin with a crimped steel blackened backplate. It is also designer marked: “Fec. W. E. Peekhause Berlin” and maker marked: “JFS”. Clear zinc pest and finish loss. The swastika is partially de-nazified. It measures 3 7/8 inches wide by 1 inch tall.
