Nürnberg Pewter Souvenir Plate
Pewter Nürnberg Souvenir Plate. One of several variations that were sold at Nuremberg Reichs Party Days. It is constructed out of blackened pewter. The obverse features a centrally placed Nürnberg great Coat of Arms surrounded by six panels of famous buildings in the ancient town, including: “The Beautiful Fountain”, the Henkortor, the castle, the Albrecht Dürer house, and the Kaiser Stallungen, all surrounded by: “Nürnberg Die Stadt der Edlen Künste Voll” to the rim. The reverse hanger is lost to time. It measures 8 7/8 inches in diameter. It is slightly warped, yet pewter is malleable, so it could easily be put back in place. A very nice old souvenir of this wonderful ancient city.
