A Verdienstauszeichnung für Ostvölker 1. Klasse in Gold by L/13 - Paul Meybauer of Berlin. Instituted July 14, 1942, the Eastern Peoples Valor and Merit Award, was awarded to members of the Eastern peoples who served in the service of the Wehrmacht and excelled in exemplary duty. The award is constructed out of a die struck, zinc base that has been gold gilded. The obverse depicts a centrally placed flower that is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath that is encircled by a rope pattern, over two crossed broad swords and a sunburst pattern. The semi-hollow back reverse is maker marked: “L/13” and features a; soldered-on tombak block hinge, soldered-on round plate steel flatwire catch and tombak coke bottle pin. It measures 1 15/16 inches wide and tall.
