Model 1938 - Technische Nothilfe (TeNo) Hauer für Mannschaften und Unterführer by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The single edged, clip point, fullered matte finished blade on this one looks great. The Teno Eagle emblem, “Ges. Gesch.” and seated squirrel holding a broad sword “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark are dark, crisp and beautifully executed. Opposite to the maker mark, under the guard, it is etched: “5485”-correctly matching the scabbard throat. The tip and fit are both perfect. The blade rates Exc++/NM. It shows age grey, runner rest marks and the off scratch throughout. The original thick black leather buffer pad remains intact. The sheet metal based black enamel painted scabbard body looks excellent. It remains completely dent free and retains 97% of its original black enamel paint. There is some paint wear age to the right edge. The steel based plated fittings also look great. They do show scratches to the top obverse fitting and minor bubbling. All four screws remain intact. The zinc-alloy based silver plated hilt looks good. Minor bubbling and plating throughout. The burnishing to the Paul Casberg-designed TeNo eagle and cog wheel really makes the details pop right out at you. The thick celluloid grip plates remain in excellent condition. There is a 1mm chip to the bottom obverse plate. They are well fit and tightly secured with two steel screws. Overall, a nice TENO.
