Transitional v3 - Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Based on construction, and other known examples, this piece can be dated to late-1936. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto, seated squirrel “Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark and “RZM M7/66” mark are all beautifully executed. It has a solid fit and a perfect tip. Traces of crossgrain can be seen. The blade rates Exc++/NM. It shows age grey/spotting, runner marks and scratches throughout. The black sealed leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The textbook style Eickhorn sheet metal based black enamel painted scabbard looks excellent. It shows minor scratches throughout. It remains completely dent free. It has two runners. The folded over black leather strap retains all of its rivets and the “Stocko Stocko” marked snap continues to work well. The male side of the button strap is well worn. The hilt is constructed out of a cast iron base that has been nickel-silver plated. The plating remains 98%+ intact, with wear in the expected areas. The two black checkered bakelite grip plates are in perfect condition and secured with two solid steel grip rivets. To the center obverse of the grip is a small HJ diamond which retains 99%+ enamel. Textbook features, textbook construction.
