24-inch (60.0cm) - Deutsche Reichsbahn Adler (Hoheitzeichen) by V - Vereinigte Aluminumwerk AG of Grevenbroich Niederrhein, this marker has not yet been confirmed. Introduced January 12, 1938, and authorized on Aprill 22, 1938, the 60.0cm eagles were for use on engines (Lokomotiven). It is constructed out of a cast aluminum composition that has been black burnished. The obverse features a national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons. The semi-hollow back reverse features four studs with accompanying nuts. Two nuts continue to work well, two are seized. The top-middle stud is marked: “B” “26” (both encircled), below the stud it is marked: “G.AL-Mg-Si” (G.=Guss, Al.=Aluminum, Mg=Magnesium, Si=Silicon), “V” (maker), both are embossed. In between the talons it is marked: “LOK” (Lokomotive) above “RZA 6” (Reichsbahn-Zentralamt 6) above “BLN” (Berlin), all of which are recessed. The right wing has been period repaired. Extremely rare to still have all the accompanying nuts. This is one of the most requested pieces by collectors and most often serves as the centerpiece of their collection...
