RARE - Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by C. Schlieper of Solingen. McSaar rates this one a 10 out of 10 for rarity, Fisher estimates 1,000 of these were made in the period. The blade on this one looks better in hand than the photos. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and all-seeing eye “C. Schlieper Solingen” maker mark both look great. The crossgrain looks very nice, easily visible against the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a sharp point. The blade rates Exc++. It has been cleaned, there are scratches and minor age greying throughout along with some rough edges towards the tip and the tip also has a wee bend it too. The sheet metal based brown anodized scabbard looks good. It has oxidization spotting throughout and has been cleaned. The reverse has a bruise and areas where cleaning is evident. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in excellent shape. The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect. The solid nickel-silver crossguards are in wonderful shape, matching the scabbard fittings perfectly. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “S” (Schlesien). The dark hardwood grip looks excellent. There are typical scratches/bruises yet no cracks or chips. It has perfect fits. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. This is only the third example by this maker that I’ve owned in my lifetime.
