Rare - Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Neptun of Solingen. Fisher estimates that only 3,000 SA daggers were made by Neptun. McSaar lists them at 8 out of 10, however, I have only every owned one other in my lifetime, making me to believe it is much rarer than that! The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and encircled “Neptun Solingen” with an arrow through a star maker mark are both beautifully executed. Traces of crossgrain remain. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates a Exc+/Exc++. There are some heavy scratches, nicks to the cutting edge and the typical age grey/spotting throughout. The sheet metal based brown anodized scabbard looks great. It shows oxidization spotting throughout. It continues to remain completely dent free and retains about 20% of its original factory lacquered finish. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in excellent shape. The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap. The solid nickel-silver crossguards are in wonderful shape. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “No” (Nordmark). The dark hardwood grip looks good. There are some minor cracks and bumps throughout. It has perfect fits. The solid nickel eagle is nicely detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 95%+ of its enamel. A very rare maker…
