M40 SE66 SD Navy
Kreigsmarine Stahlhelm. The stamped, sheet steel construction helmet retains a good portion of its period repainted rough textured finish. The left side of the helmet has a golden yellow, Navy eagle shield decal. The decal is 40% intact. All three liner retaining rivets are all intact. The interior of the helmet has an M31 size 59 tan leather liner. Liner is supple with a replacement draw-string. It has a small bit out of one finger. The bands are steel. It has several signatures to the interior in numerous spots. They appear to be German, perhaps the guys in his unit? It is also ink stamped "Probst" in a few spots, IDK what that means. The interior, neck guard apron is serial/lot number stamped, "7730", and the interior, left side, apron is stamped with the manufacturer’s code and size, "SE66", indicating manufacture by Sächsische Emaillier-und Stanzwerke, AG Lauter, (Saxon Enamel and Die/Metal Stamp Works), size 66. No Chinstrap chinstrap. Salty, worn and used example.
