Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse 1939 Award Document. Instituted September 1, 1939, the 2nd Class Iron Cross was awarded for an act of bravery in the face of the enemy, or actions that were clearly above and beyond the call of duty. Unteroffizier Bartels of a Flak Regiment won this 13.6.40. A fairly early award. Likely they shot a plane down or such. Signed by General. Nice document. Roughly, 20cm x 14cm, mid-weight paper document with black, printed Gothic/Fraktur script and typed in particulars. It has a few creases.
