A Model 1934 - Sturmabteilung Ehrendolch mit Widmung by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Ernst Röhm Honour Daggers were granted to members of the SS and SA who either had interrupted service since December 31, 1931, or those who transferred from the Hitler Youth prior to that time (February 22, 1934 - II Order Nr. 2869). After the Night of the Long Knives, Ernst Röhm was declared a “traitor” and removal of the inscription was mandated (July 4, 1934 - II Daily Record Nr. 7566). To have the full inscription was against Hitler’s decree, consequently making this dagger an incredibly rare and desirable piece among the collecting community…A quality SA Ground Rohm Dagger by Carl Eickhorn! The blade on this one has been cleaned. The entire acid etched "In herzlicher kameradschaft Ernst Rohm" motto is completely factory ground. The "Alles für Deutschland" motto and the small oval "Carl Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark are all dark, crisp and beautifully executed! Much crossgrain remains. The fit and tip are both perfect as well! The blade rates Exc++. It has common runner marks. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard is looks great! It has all the anodizing remaining and best of all 40% of the factory lacquer. There is a small hit to the obverse 3" south of the upper fitting. You can find it with your finger or by turning this just so in the sun. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look great. The ball has taken a hit. All four screws continue to remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is good and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamped "Ns", for SA Gruppe Niedersachsen. Peek underneath and you will find a benchmark "5", not necessary but always nice to see. The hand chased solid nickel crossguards match the scabbard fittings in condition, color and age patina. The oak hardwood grip is in excellent shape! It has the odd rub mark but that's it! No cracks, chips or splits. The solid nickel eagle has excellent detail and a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 80% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit!
