Hirschfänger für Forstbeamte im gehobenen Dienst by Clemen and Jung of Solingen. The drop foraged, 11 inch long triple edged blade on this one is a work of art! The crisp acid etched panels and spine provide a gorgeous display of a stag and doe in the forest (obverse), and dog and a wild boar in the forest and an oak leaf and acorn motif (spine). The blade is stamped to the reverse with the “CLEMEN & JUNG” maker mark under a shield. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. The original brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard body is black painted steel with two undented brass scalloped fittings. The screws remain intact. The top obverse fitting features a textbook C&J grouse lug. Ok I know the steel scabbard body is unusual and exactly as this should be. The lower obverse features an oak leaf motif. The scabbard sits securely up against the hilt. The oval langet features a hunting dog. The cast brass d-guard hilt is beautifully decorated with oak leaf and acorn panels each ending at a deer hoof. To the center is a NSDAP Political eagle. The grip features two stag horn panels each secured with oak leaf and acorn grip rivets. One acorn is missing to the reverse. The brass has all been gold gilded. These are really a work of art!
