An Early Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Spalteneder of München. of München. This one rates 8 out of 10 for rarity on McSaar's SA rarity scale. The blade on this one has been cleaned hard removing all the crossgrain. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto remains clear and the double oval “Spaltender München” maker mark remains dark and crisp. I say maker mark but it is doubtful these guys actually made daggers, there is some evidence they were an Eickhorn distributor or perhaps bought components from Eickhorn and assembled the daggers themselves. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. This blade rates an Exc. It has surface scratches. The steel based brown anodized scabbard looks good. It has surface oxidation. It remains dent free! Peek at the reverse and you can see it's serialized. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked “Ho” – Hochland, and is correctly to the far right. The brown tiger-striped hardwood grip looks great and is almost certainly Eickhorn! It has a hairline to upper, reverse left corner. The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful detail and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 95%+ of its enamel. A rare example to get!
