An early model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Adolf Volker of Schmalkaden. Here's a nice one by a rarer SA Dagger maker. The bright blade on this one has been zipper, "cleaned hard likely with a wheel". There is evidence of some pitting and scratches to the left of the maker mark. The etching is all good. The blade rates an Exc. Now just take a second and look at the maker mark. For you guys who collect by maker I’m gonna mess you up right now. This is the “B” variation these guys used. They also used an, “A” variation with a train, so there you go, who knew? Another one you need to find!! The brown anodized scabbard has a great finish. The solid nickel fittings are also lightly worn but still look great. All of the screws remain intact. The ball has a small kiss to the very bottom but retains it’s basic shape. The scabbard / crossguard fit is nice. The solid nickel crossguards look good. The reverse of the lower fitting is stamped "Sa" (Sachsen). The oak grip is near perfect! There are no flakes, splits or chips. Just wee small hits, scratches and bruises from normal period wear. The grip / crossguard fit is absolutely great. The beautifully detailed solid nickel eagle has a perfect fit and is lightly worn. The roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 100% of its enamel. Overall a beautiful body with a bright blade!
