A Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by RZM M7/40 - Hartkopf & Co. of Solingen. This is likely 1940 production. The ricassoed blade on this one looks fine. The dual devil head “Hartkopf & Co. Solingen” logo and “RZM M7/40” maker mark are beautifully executed! The tip is perfect and there is no sharpening! The blade rates Exc+. It has been cleaned/polished hard making it shiny. The black leather buffer pad is only partially intact intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard retains 99% of it's finish and has a bit of spidering to the paint. It remains completely dent free! The folded and riveted black leather strap is lightly worn. It retains all of its rivets and the snap continues to work well! The zinc based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 90%+ of its plated finish. Typical wear from the snap. The reverse black bakelite checkered grip plate has a small crack you will have to go looking to find. They are secured by two oxidized steel rivets. The wiggly HJ diamond retains 100% of its enamel!
