The “Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung” was the first German mass-produced newspaper. Their recipe for success was the mixture of politics and celebrity gossip, high culture and local stories. In addition to artistic drawings, the photos in particular became the newspaper's trademark. The cover pg of the 1st copy is separated. The center pgs of the 2nd copy have pulled from the staples.
