SS Sleeve Diamond for Former HJ Member
Vorigmitglied HJ Ärmelabzeichen. Instituted October 1935, these would have been worn by former members of the Hitler Youth who had volunteered for service with the Waffen-SS, SS/HJ-liaison and/or SS personnel assigned to training HJ-personnel. It is constructed out of a black wool base with machine embroidered white and black thread. The rhomboid diamond shaped obverse features the HJ emblem in black and white. The reverse shows it has been hand stitched to a leather backing. Why, I have no idea. It measures 1 7/8 inches wide by 3 1/16 inches tall.
