United States, pre-WWI - M1905 Bayonet Manufactured by the Springfield Armory in Massachusetts. This 1906 dated bayonet is a first-year production, made for the American M1903 Springfield Rifle that saw service in both WWI and WWII. It features the 16-inch full length blade with walnut wooden grip plates, the type I rawhide covered wooden scabbard with a canvas cover, leather drag and M1910 modified wire hanger attachment. The obverse of the fullered, spear point, blade is marked SA 1906 with an ordnance bomb, the reverse is marked US 32012. It retains good finish, the lug locking mechanism functions correctly. The guard and pommel have blued surfaces, the walnut wood is smooth and nicely fit to the metal remaining secured with a single nut/spanner assembly.
