German WWII > Belt Buckles > SS >
A beautiful early SS EM Belt Buckle by Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid! It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts an SS eagle with its tongue sticking out and outstretched wings, clutching a centrally placed wreath static swastika in its talons. The eagle is above the SS motto: "Meine Ehre heißt Treue!" which is in front of a rough background that is surrounded by two twisted ropes in a circle. All of this lies on a smooth rectangular background. The reverse is clearly marked: "ges. gesch.". "O&C" (Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid) has been scratched out by the manufacturer as per regulations. Companies were not permitted to have their name on RZM items at one point and so just scratched them out. Thanks for that Darko! It also shows a brass catch and steel prongs. It has great patina. It measures approximately 2 ½ inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A highly desired piece!
