A M1937 Fliegerdolch by A. Schuttelhofer of Solingen direct from the family The blade on this one looks good. It has a nicely executed acid etched maker mark. It has some age and stain I have not tried to clean. Other than remove the old grease this is how it came. The blade on this one rates a Exc/Exc+ with crossgrain remaining. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The grey plated later generic scabbard has wear, oxidation a a dent to the lower obverse. It depicts good details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. The throat is retained with two unturned domehead screws. The burnished eagle crossguard, steel ferrule and matching pommel all look good. The eagle has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The chip and crack-free trylon grip has aged to a deep yellow/orange over time. The wire wrap remains tightly intact. The portepee has some frays as does the original set of tabbed deluxe hangers. A reasonably priced example by a rarer maker.
