An Early Model 1933 NSKK Dagger (Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps Dienstdolch) by F.Herder A.S. of Solingen. A decent piece here by a desirable maker. The blade on this one suffers some spotting I have not tried to clean. The blade also has a solid fit to the hilt, with no gaps or wiggle. The blade rates an Exc. with some crossgrain remaining. The dent-free repainted scabbard has nickel fittings and a painted finish. The surface has wear and chips. The nickel scabbard fittings are near perfect. They remain tightly secured to the scabbard and retain all four screws. The ball has taken some hits but not too bad. The body suffers a few small bumps and chips. The crossguards remain in excellent condition! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "Nrh", (Niederrhein). The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes it with a snap! The dark brown hardwood grip has hairlines to the top but no chips. It shows the common wear marks. The grip / crossguard fits are absolutely perfect! The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 100% of its enamel! A great piece of history that will be prized in your collection!
