Personalized 2nd Model Luft by Asso

Here we have a M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by A. Schuttelhofer & Co. of Solingen/Wald, (ASSO). Nice clean example that was a Christmas gift in 1940! Blade is a Exc+/Exc++ example having some minor age and gray. It is etched, "N.S.F.K. Haupmann u. komp. Chef" and the original owner's name in script, "Wilhelm". "kriegsweihnachten 1940", "War Christmas 1940" to the reverse. Framing the etch is gilt oak leaves that have lost much of their factory gilt. The blade is seated through it's original leather washer into a nice generic style crossguard. All the fittings are in fine shape with the backgrounds burnished. Undented scabbard is a mid-period generic example with a plated finish. Throat is retained by 2 screws. The aluminum bands match the hilt. Original trylon grip is a nice crack and chip-free example with original springy wire wrap.
