Luftwaffe Officers Breast Eagle
Uniform Removed - Brustadler für Offiziere der Luftwaffe gestickte Ausführung c.1936/1937-1945. It is constructed out of hand embroidered rolled, twisted and crunched silver-aluminum bullion-flatwire and tan cotton thread to a blue grey wool, tan buckram and glued-on black paper backing. The obverse features a 2nd pattern Luftwaffe eagle with outstretched wings clutching a mobile swastika in one of its talons. The reverse shows 80% of the black paper backing, along with holes to the entire exterior and the odd thread, all evidence of it having been stitched to a uniform. It measures 3 11/16 inches wide by 2 5/16 inches tall. A beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
