Italy, Germany, WWII - Type 2 - Russian Front Honor Badge by F. M. Lorioli of Milano. Instituted March 12, 1943, the Italian Russian Front Honor Badge was awarded to all veterans of the 8th Italian Army in Russia (ARMIR) and German soldiers attached to the C.S.I.R. who served on the Eastern front between June 22, 1941, and June 5, 1943. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc alloy base that has been silver washed and contain blue enamel paint work. The round shaped obverse features two crossed downward-pointing Cossack sabers, surrounded by a half thorns (left) half oak leaf (right) wreath, with a Savoy knot to the top and “Fronte Russo” (in blue) on a banner to the bottom. The fullback reverse displays the maker mark: “F.M. Lorioli Fratelli via F. Bronzetti 25, Milano” and registered model mark: “Modello Depositato No. 38” and has a soldered-on well working pin back (Type 2) assembly. It measures 1 11/16 inches in diameter.
